Prompt: The Islander
Character(s): Solheim and Sam
Solheim frowned, staring out the window of his bedroom at the ocean. The small apartment he rented had a perfectly framed view of the sea. On sunny days it was great sight: white boats floating leisurely around, the sun glinting attractively off the waves. But it was Great Britain. Sometimes it was hard to remember the country was even an island. It was large and what with the near constant and cold winds it didn't exactly scream "tropical paradise." And today was not a sunny day. Solheim drummed his fingers on the table, tense. Where is she... He grimaced.
The clicking and metallic thumping of tumblers roused him from his daze of boredom and impatience. His roommate stepped through the door, a grin nearly splitting her pale face. "Solheim!" She called. "I'm back!" Solheim gave her a disinterested gaze, pretending he didn't care.
"Oh." He shrugged. "Have fun shopping?" He asked, eying the brown bags she had stuffed under her arms. Sam nodded.
"We're having a picnic!" She smiled dumping the bags on the counter. Solheim looked out the window, wondering if the cloudy day he'd seen outside was just a hallucination.
"Today?"
Sam nodded, spreading out supplies. "Why should we let some stupid clouds get in the way of having a good lunch?" She looked at Solheim. "Right?" Solheim nodded, a bit dazed by her excitement and confidence.
"Yeah."
And under clouds swollen with rain, they enjoyed a few sandwiches and drinks on the shores of the Atlantic.
...D: Bad ending.
Prompt: Greenhouse (as in "a building with glass walls and roof where plants are grown under controlled conditions ")
